The price of an EICR is based on the number of rooms and electrical circuits in the property.

The purpose of this report is to test the safety of your building’s electrical circuits.

  • To protect against electric shock and burns
  • Protection of your property from fire and heat damage caused by defects
  • To check the electrical installation is not damaged or deteriorated
  • Ensure compliance with BS7671 Wiring Regulations

A Domestic EICR report

For example the price of an average domestic EICR on a 3 or 4-Bedroom house with a single consumer unit of 10 circuits or under is approximately £150-£250 a smaller home will likely be less and a larger property will be more!

A Commercial EICR report

Like the domestic test a commercial electrical safety test EICR report depends in the size installation as the number of circuits affects the price quoted.

e.g. A small café may have 2 consumer units; 1 for the shop front and another for the kitchen wheras some business properties may have hundreds of circuits.

Other factors to take into account are access to the property and working hours to avoid disruption.

Having to identify circuits to test will take additional time so if you have any previous records of EICRs that will save time and money.

Newer electrical installations, with working access and up-to-date records and previous EICR’s would likely lower the price you pay per circuit.

To get a good deal for your EICR report you should give as much information as possible when requesting a quote, photos of your consumer units and previous records and instructions will all helpful in quoting.
